Spaetrot

For centuries Zierfandler has been known in Gumpoldskirchen as “Spaetrot,” roughly translated as “late red” – so called for the telltale red color of its fruit when fully ripe. Thus it is no coincidence that the winery of the Gebeshuber family carries the same name, and that the winemaking duo of Johanna and Johannes Gebeshuber have chosen to specialize in the traditional Zierfandler and Rotgipfler varietals.

Johanna and Johannes Gebeshuber stand for closeness to nature, well-maintained vines, and exceptional diligence in the winemaking process. When selecting grapes, particular attention is paid to select only the healthiest, ripest grapes; the vines are harvested completely by hand and gentle handling of the selected grapes is a top priority. Spaetrot-Gebeshuber wines captivate through their characteristic flavor: multi-layered, smooth and elegant, the wines are at the same time pleasing to the palate, consistent with the Gebeshubers’ belief that wine must be passion.
