The Azienda Agricola Stella, located in the Costigliole d’Asti County, in the heart of Monferrato, was established in 1920 by Domenico Stella. He was not only a good winemaker but also a music teacher. Since then, the marriage between music and wine has been the symbol of the farming traditions of this estate, which, originally, followed the traditional agricultural methods, with a particular attention to its vineyards. In 1928, the constant search for the best quality vineyard was already rewarded with two gold medals. One was earned during the first wine show organized by the Costigliole d’Asti County (which has always been renowned for its enogastronomic tradition), and the other during the first National Food Expo, organized in Turin. Today, the estate consists of 30 acres and it grows: Barbera, Dolcetto, Grignolino and Cortese, Chardonnay and Moscato. Currently, the Azienda Agricola Stella is family run. The owner Giuseppe Stella and his sons: Massimo and Paolo are in charge of both the field and the commercial activities. The focus of their work aims at a natural production of wines typical of the Piemonte area. Their end-products are obtained from indigenous varietals.
Presently, the overall production of the estate consists of 35,000 bottles. New improvements were made to the Barbera Vineyards which is growing extremely well and it has increased its production.
